Young Dutch tenor Sander de Jong will make his house debut at Opera Zuid in the 2025/2026 season as Hérisson de Porc-Épic in Chabrier’s L’Étoile. He will return to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein to perform the roles of Docht/Kater in Schötz’s Pinocchio, Erich A. Collin in Comedian Harmonists in Concert, and Don Curzio in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. He will also sing Goro in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at Opera Compact. On the concert stage, he will appear as the tenor soloist with Sinfonia Rotterdam on tour, performing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.
In recent seasons, Sander has appeared as a guest at the Hamburgische Staatsoper, Nederlandse Reisopera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Oper Wuppertal, Theater Kiel, Wadopera Nederland, and the Schlossfestspiele Wernigerode. 
His operatic repertoire includes Remendado in Bizet’s Carmen, Oronte in Handel’s Alcina, Mercure in Offenbach’s Orphée aux Enfers, Gastone in Verdi’s La Traviata, Normanno in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Erster Geharnischter/Erster Priester in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Der Junge in De Falla’s Meister Pedros Puppenspiel, and Erster Richter in Korngold’s Das Wunder der Heliane.
On the concert stage, he has performed as a soloist in Bach’s Matthäus-Passion, Johannes-Passion, and Weihnachtsoratorium; Handel’s Messiah; Mozart’s Requiem and Krönungsmesse; and Britten’s Saint Nicolas Cantata.
From 2020 to 2022, Sander was a member of the renowned Opera Studio at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf/Duisburg), where he laid the foundation for his professional career.
Sander began his musical journey as a boy soprano with the Martini and Roden Boys Choirs, where his passion for singing first developed. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Prof. Pierre Mak, and completed his Master’s studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hamburg with Prof. Jörn Dopfer.
