The Dutch tenor Sander de Jong opened his 2026/27 season with Nederlandse Reisopera as the Guard in Waiting for the Barbarians (Glass). He subsequently makes his house debut at Theater Aachen as Steve Wozniak in The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs (Bates).

He also returns to Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where he makes his role debut as Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart). There, he once again performs the role of the First Armed Man in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart) and appears as a Kuli in Der Kreidekreis (Zemlinsky). At Opera Zuid, he takes on the role of Fritz Steppke in Frau Luna (Lincke). On the concert stage, he will be heard as the tenor soloist in Mozart's Requiem on tour with Phion.

In recent seasons, Sander de Jong has appeared on numerous opera stages throughout the Netherlands and Germany. He has worked with opera houses and companies including Hamburgische Staatsoper, Nederlandse Reisopera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Oper Wuppertal, Theater Kiel and Opera Zuid.

His operatic repertoire includes Remendado in Carmen (Bizet), Gastone in La traviata (Verdi), Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos (Strauss), Goro in Madama Butterfly (Puccini), Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti), the First Armed Man and First Priest in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart), Mercure in Orphée aux enfers (Offenbach), Der Junge in Meister Pedros Puppenspiel (de Falla) and Oronte in Alcina (Handel).

He has also established himself as a versatile concert soloist, with a repertoire that includes Bach's St Matthew Passion, St John Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah and Britten's Saint Nicolas.

From 2020 to 2022, Sander was a member of the Opera Studio at Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and Duisburg, where he laid the foundations for his professional career.

His musical roots lie in the Martini Jongenskoor and Roder Jongenskoor, where he gained his first singing experience as a boy soprano. He subsequently studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Prof. Pierre Mak and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Prof. Jörn Dopfer, earning his bachelor's and master's degrees respectively.
